It became clear at an early age that Jente did not like beaten paths.
Run, jump, fly, dive, fall, get up and keep going.
Her last name does her justice, although one letter should go. The behavior of the squirrel also characterizes ADM resident Jente Ee(n)khoorn (squirrel In Dutch). Like an acrobat, she figuratively, and sometimes even literally, runs and jumps through life, just like the swift, red-brown creature.
Off the beaten track
It became clear at an early age that Jente did not like beaten paths. She preferred to find her own way. The free school gave her that space. After her final exams, Jente threw herself into life and continued her search for knowledge and new experiences.
She started studying photography in Wageningen, inspired by her grandfather, whose photo archive she enjoyed visiting as a child. Ultimately, the strict framework of the training did not suit her. When she got the chance to work in New York, she took off. An intense time followed. After a year in New York, she decided to return to Amsterdam.
She was in Amsterdam, and without thinking about it for too long, she suddenly found herself working as a teacher in a daycare center. Great, Jente thought, she loves the purity of children, not yet hindered by the mores that are often the benchmark in society. At least children are truthful. Nice, in a daycare center, but not enough for Jente. So hey, a Social Educational Worker training course was an easy option.
Drug
But the blood creeps where it can't go. People had often encouraged her to go to art school. After some hesitation, she signed up for the Rietveld Academy. A wonderful time, and Jente wouldn’t be Jente if she didn't pick up something else here and there. A year of psychology, a course in set design and oh well, why not, a study in philosophy. Are you still there?
Jente's hunger for knowledge and information is insatiable. 'Normal' people would become hysterical about it, if not Jente. Let her shift, learn, develop, absorb information. That's her drug, then she's in her element.
In ‘the zone’
As an independent entrepreneur, Jente works for film and theater productions. Then she is part of the art department and is involved in set construction and making (special) props. Props are all props that are in the script and must be present on the film set. These are sought after or specially made (by Jente). When she is busy with a job, Jente is in 'the zone'. There is total focus, disturbing her is not recommended, it can lead to a short circuit.
Jente's magical tents
In the summer Jente builds up tents. from bar tents, canopies, circus and theater tents for the Parade to a magical mirror palace. This work can be perfectly combined with her film and theater work. During construction Jente is part of a group. She doesn't have to figure things out herself and yet it requires precision, focus and coordination with your fellow builders. That also makes Jente tick, this team feeling. After an intense film or theater job, this work restores Jente's balance between a period in 'the zone' and working together in a team.
Het Groene Veld
Jente has been part of the ADM community for more than 12 years, which came her way by chance. No beaten track here either. The ADM community feels like family, in fact it is family for Jente. When she is free, she uses her talents and creativity for all kinds of events at The Green Field. She builds, she breaks, she makes, she does, she thinks. She is there, always, bubbling with energy.
What does Jente think is so special about living and working at The Green Field? It’s the contact with people from the neighborhood and the diverse programming that results from that. That's something new. The open attitude, the willingness to look beyond your own fence, that’s how you develop, that's how you grow as a person, according to the experience junkie. Yes, this is her spot, this is home.
