Met: Lian Kasper, programmamaker en trainer
We usually associate grief with the loss of a loved one. But in these turbulent times, people sense that much more is at stake. It can be frightening to take in all the misfortune, from ecological disasters, disappearing landscapes, wars, to the slide from democracy to dictatorship.
How do you maintain hope then?
In a series of three lectures, film screenings, and workshops, we will explore this in more depth. Lian Kasper will introduce us to the approach of Buddhist and ecophilosopher Joana Macy, also known as "the work that reconnects."
On January 25, we will use Joana Macy's approach to work with various emotions that can arise when we experience powerlessness in the face of the challenges of our time. The workshop will make it very tangible and palpable how we can transform these emotions into clarity and strength. The workshop will be led by Lian Kasper.
Lian Kasper is a program developer and trainer. She has worked with the NatuurCollege foundation, Wageningen University & Research, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, among others. Commissioned by the Academy for Landscape, she developed a curriculum on coping with ecological grief. She is the facilitator of "Het werkt dat weerbinden" (It Works That Reconnects), about tapping into Active Hope.
Active Hope comprises three sessions on Sunday, November 30, Sunday, January 25, and Sunday, March 1, 2026. They form a cohesive whole. However, you can also attend the sessions individually.
