Active Hope 1: Ecological Grief

30 November 2025 @ 15:00 - 17:00

A project by pePijn en Hoop Foundation.

Remembrance Day

Today, November 30, is internationally known as Remembrance Day for Lost Species, with activities worldwide taking place to commemorate extinct and near-extinct species.

How do we cope with ecological grief—for ourselves, for others, for the Earth? How do we maintain hope?

Film

After a brief introduction, we'll watch the stunningly beautiful film Albatross by Canadian filmmaker Chris Jordan. In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, at what may be the furthest point from human activity, he captured the bizarre encounter between pure nature and human artifacts. This will be followed by a discussion led by Lian Kasper, trained by Joana Macy in Active Hope. The film is in English.
