Silent Walk

17 January 2026 @ 18:00 - 18:45

The Loop van de Hoop (Walk of Hope) would not have existed if Pepijn Remmers hadn't passed away. It will have been five years since Friday, January 16, 2026. It happened at the edge of the water treatment plant, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

This year, too, we want to commemorate it; for the family, his death is inextricably linked to the support they received from neighbors and friends during that period. That still resonates deeply.

The Silent Walk will take place on SATURDAY, January 17, 2026. We will start at 6:01 PM sharp, at the corner of MJE Lippitsstraat and GJ Scheurleerweg, and then walk towards the viaduct and on to Pepijn's place. This is the moment his parents sent a message in the neighborhood app asking for help in the search. He was found three-quarters of an hour later, in a corner of the former water treatment plant, now known as Het Groene Veld (The Green Field).

Feel invited to join us wherever you like; bringing a light would be appreciated. You don't have to think about Pepijn. You don't even have to know him. Think of your pain, your longing, and make space for everything that life and death touch within you. Or join us for the atmospheric experience of walking through the dark woods with hundreds of lights. You are welcome.

We depart at 6:01 PM from the corner of M.J. E. Lippitsstraat and G.J. Scheurleerweg and then walk along the Pepijnpad. The Silent Walk, including a brief gathering at the site of Pepijn's death and your own return journey, takes approximately 45 minutes.
