He himself is modest about it, but you can safely call Mauri a multi-talent. The originally Polish artist attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and considers this a good, broad basis for his further development as a visual artist.
The term 'visual arts' is spot on and characterizes his versatility as a photographer and street artist. He also makes video projections for events, and recently started tattooing on request. Oh yes, he also studied history.
With a number of 'Groene Velders' he once organized a 'graffiti street art jam' for young people from the area. Super fun and inspiring, says Mauri. As far as he is concerned, this will happen more often.
Mauri feels at home in his 'workshop' in the Poortgebouw on Het Groene Veld. It is a small space where you are surrounded by black and white and colorful creations by his hand.
Martial arts play an important role in his work. Mauri sees a strong resemblance between martial arts and his own work. Perhaps not very logical at first glance, but physical, mental and spiritual development play an important role in both his work and martial arts. Part of this is the preservation of the cultural heritage of peoples from all corners of the world and times. All these elements come together in his art. It's really hard to explain, just come and have a look!
