Three courses of rescued food for no money... but for some of your time
We're introducing a new restaurant evening at Het Groene Veld, Bar la Papa, every Monday night. Instead of Euros, we're using Uuro's: for a three-course meal, we ask for one hour (Uuro) of your time. You can earn Uuro by spending an hour (or two) helping in the kitchen, joining our missions to rescue food, or helping with community projects.

If you help in the kitchen for 4 hours each week, you'll earn 4 Uuro, which can be used to get 4 meals—for yourself, your family, your friends, your neighbors, or kind strangers in Amsterdam.
Bar la papa is short for "Barter around the potato," and the potato is something you can get unlimited for free at the Amsterdam Food Center. A barter is a trade system. La papa means potato in Spanish.
The Conquest of Bread is a book by the anarchist Peter Kropotkin. He believed that every revolution is doomed to fail unless the revolution first focuses on the "conquest of bread." Only when everyone is ensured of food can we then address the rest of the revolution, which should further focus on the well-being of all.
We consider well-being for all to be a noble pursuit, and the belief that everyone has a right to food is a conviction we share.
