On Thursday evening, November 19, we’re opening our doors for an evening that’s as cozy as it is ecstatic—filled with dancing and wonder, featuring three bands: Iva Nova, Trikosis, and Rotjochies!
Iva Nova
The St. Petersburg-based group Iva Nova (Anastasia Postnikova, Natalia Potapenko, Ekatarina Fedorova, Galina Kiseleva) has played here before, and they enjoyed it so much that they’re eager to return during their European tour this autumn! Expect a highly danceable, ecstatic blend of Slavic folk music, deep electronic bass, and rich soundscapes. Let yourself be carried away by the accordion, synths, drums, bass, and polyphonic vocals!
Trikosis
Many of you may have already stumbled upon the chaotic, high-energy act that is Trikosis! For years, Trikosis has been bringing their ‘Bohemian Zombie-Killing Superfolk’ to parties everywhere—armed with a violin, accordions, clarinet, guitar, bass drum, darbuka, and bass, all fueled by an inexhaustible, boundless source of energy! Come and dance! 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7!
Rotjochies
The accordion seems to be a recurring theme tonight, as the Utrecht-based improvisation-punk band Rotjochies will also be bringing one along! With drums, bass, violin, vocals, accordion, and trumpet—performing on a small stage built especially for them inside the café—they’ll whisk you away into their theatrical, surreal world!
From Doors open at 18:00 for snacks and drinks, followed by the start of the big celebration!
