Do you want to put your monkey mind on pause every now and then? Being able to escape from all stimuli more often outside that seem to dictate our lives? The good thing is, you can train that. And that's not at all complicated, says Titia Bloemhof. With Zen and Zingen she unites two passions; meditate and music.
Zen Zen means slowing down for Titia, daring to stand still in the moment. become master of you thoughts, instead of your thoughts running away with you.
To sing consists of repeating short mantras in Zeng, until you feel mindlessly carried away by the music and connect with this moment.
When you slow down, your view becomes wider. Your breathing deepens through the singing. That feels good and is healthy. We are often docile and distracted and live mainly in our heads. That doesn't matter happy and also isn't productive (although our heads would like us to believe it is.) In the top sport, they have also discovered that meditation improves focus and thus performance. It is applied there. Less is more. Think less, experience more. That's meditation.
And singing is an expression of our unique being. Expressing what inspires us liberating. Everything wants to be seen and heard. In music, all emotions are effortless flow along. In fact, music without emotion is deadly boring.
Being present gives strength and music comforts. Titia experienced this deeply after death of her youngest son Pepijn. He died more than two years ago on the edge of Het Groene Veld. Singing and meditating gave her the bed to bear the grief. And to experience that this was not the end.
If we learn to move along and allow what presents itself, we can live with everything. Within us is a deep space that can envelop everything with love. In there the peace and healing that we unconsciously often seek lies outside of us. In the outside world there is none security. You can only find it within yourself. So pay attention to your inner world and feel the wealth that is available there.
With the death of Pepijn, Het Groene Veld became a place for reflection for Titia, one source of inspiration. She feels great gratitude when she thinks back to the obviousness with which the residents of Het Groene Veld just like the residents of Elzenhagen immediately after Pepijn's death showed their compassion, in words and in deeds.
Pepijn's death has made Titia even more aware of the transience of life. And that given sparked her zest for life. She wants to look back and be able to say she lived has, awake and aware. “I miss Pepijn intensely but I am also grateful for every second we experienced together. And by living life to the full now, I honor Pepijn's life the most.”
With Zen en Zingen, Titia wants to share what enriches her life. Together with singer Marlien and percussionist Bob, she leads the evenings
